Students Exposure Visit to Bally Water Treatment Plant &Domjur District Laboratory: A Learning Experience about Water Science
At Sunanda Enviromental Pvt. Ltd, we believe that education is not confined to the four walls of a classroom. For this reason, we recently organized an exposure visit for students to the Bally Water Treatment Plant and Domjur District Laboratory which was part of our Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Program. The students,along with two teachers from two schools in the Bally Jagacha block of Howrah district were part of this exposure visit. During the visit students learned about the role of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, the need of water conservation, the importance of water quality testing. In addition, the students were also educated about waterborne diseases and the means of preventing such diseases through the practice of good sanitation and hygiene.The main object of the visit was to provide students with hands-on learning experiences about water treatment procedures, the importance of clean water and the role of Laboratories in ensuring water quality.
Visit the Bally Water Treatment Plant
The students were first taken to the Bally Water Treatment Plant where they got a firsthand look at how raw water is transformed into clean water. They learned about the various processes and stages in water purificationfrom filtration to chemical treatment processes. By doing this, the practical experience enhanced their understanding about the complexity and importance of these plants.
Exploring Water Quality Testing at Domjur District Laboratory
After this, the group visited the Domjur District Laboratory, where they explored how water quality is tested. Here the expert demonstrated a sample analysis of water for impurities and harmful elements. Students were introduced to various testing methods like pH, Turbidity, Iron etc and learned how maintaining high water quality is essential for public health.
This exposure visits not only gave students valuable technical knowledge but also raised awareness about the importance of water conservation and quality.The students would also have a platform for asking questions and interacting with experts, making this an even more engaging experience. Many students expressed their interest to contribute to environmental conservation and water conservation.The students enjoyed the trip and were also benefited from the sameAt Sunanda Enviromental International Pvt.
