In today’s world, education is not just academic studying and knowledge. Schools play a vital role in the social, emotional and physical growth of students. AtSunandaEnviromental International Pvt. Ltd., we believe that one of the ingredients for a better tomorrow is the education of today’s children who will be leaders in the future. Our innovative IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) programs focus on raising awareness among youth about Water Quality Testing, Water Conservation, and WASH (Water Sanitation and Hygiene) practices.
An IEC program is a communication strategy that aims at educating and spreading awareness among the people about social issues of particular importance. Our IEC program for students aims to raise awareness of importance of clean and safe drinking water and water quality and water conservation issues for future generations.
The Importance of Water Quality Testing in Schools
One of the most important activities of a school IEC program on water is Water Quality Testing. Water Quality Testing makes students understand the science behind water pollution and the effects it has on health. This practical hands-on experience allows them to test the water in their school and around them for various parameters such as Iron, pH, etc.
Water Conservation: We Should Know the Importance of Each Drop
Water Conservation is another important area on which IEC programs are focused. Water is wasted in enormous amounts by a majority of the students who do not perform actions like leaving the taps open, taking long showers, etc. Encouraging a change in attitude and behaviour such as repairing water leaks, installing low flow taps, practicing rain water harvesting for non-potable uses like watering gardens and minimizing the wastage of water can all help. They help in equipping students with water saving measures at home and school which in turn helps in creating sustainable habits.
WASH Practices
WASH (Water Sanitation & Hygiene) education teaches students such important ways and means of preventing waterborne diseases as proper handling of drinking, hand washing, and sanitation. These include safe use of drinking water, proper washing of hands and sanitary disposal. Health is very important as the lesser the teachers and students are sick, the lesser they miss classes which increases the learning outcome and also creates a conducive environment for studies.
Students don’t just learn these concepts- they also share them with their families and communities. Through the IEC program, students learn how to protect water and promote good hygiene practices. This education helps them understand the importance of clean water and empowers them to make a difference in their communities. In the end, these young learners become the water protectors of tomorrow.
